The bed was super comfortable, linens super fresh and clean. They shared with us the best places to visit. The surrounding areas are spectacular. We did all three walks and around every corner there are delights. The buildings are breathtaking, you can’t help but feel transported to a past time. The Tapestry was worth the trip from Paris. It is amazing. The cathedral is also beautiful. The Battle of Normandy Museum was a long walk from the center of the city. It had lots of information about the preparations for the landing. Maybe too much for some people. We are history buffs and enjoyed learning some new facts.
The Tapestry Museum and the Basilica are incredible as is the Museum of the Battle of Normandy. The Lion d'Or is a wonderful experience especially for Americans. Make sure to make parking arrangements before you arrive and to be at the Tapestry Museum as it opens to avoid significant crowds.
Nice walking town. Cathedral is most impressive . See the Tapestry free on Sundays! and catch Overlord Tours to see D-Day. Wanted to do the Normandy battle museum but short of time. Others said it was well worth the effort.
Definitely a summer vacation town. Most businesses were closed during the week. Great location for a home base to see many of the Normandy sites. Was a small town so getting around on foot was easy.
Full day tour of D-day in Normandy. Our guide Jon with Bayeux Shuttle tours was outstanding. The half day tour of Omaha and Utah would not have given us the thorough understanding of the challenge, which the all day tour did so well. Bayeux Tapestry can be seen in about 15minutes, plus another hour or so in the museum lovely old town to walk around....no WWII bombing, so old buildings intact.
Trévières is situated right in the middle of Normandy beaches, quaint towns and plenty of sight seeing. It is close to main roads and easy to get to. Gorgeous countryside!
Loved tbe medieval town of Bayeux. Four nights worked out perfect. We stayed at two locations in Bayeux, Hotel Rene Mithide in the center of old town and a B&B,Clod Dr Bellefontaine, also close to the center. Both great places with a different atmosphere. First day went to see Omaha Beach,D-Day, second day Mont-St Michel, third day stayed in Bayeux to explore and fourth day on our way back to Paris stopped at Hansflur. Great eateries in Bayeux: Le Moulin De La Galette & Le Lion D'or. Normandy is beautiful. I will return.
Caen is full of rich history from the middle ages with beautiful cathedrals, nice city center, interesting WW1 history with a wonderful Memorial museum as well as castle & museum. There is an excellent public transport system. The are many other cities and the Normandy region & beaches to explore, easily accessable with tours, trains, buses or by car.
Close to Beach of Normandy by car. Stayed at a local BandB. Loved the peace and quiet with a short drive to other villages who also offer great food and sightseeing
Great little town close to Normandy. Easy to walk and to get around. Don’t miss the Tapestry! A little tricky to get to from CDG airport by train but doable. Make sure to schedule a Normandy Tour, well worth the cost.
Upon arriving, we found the Hotel under construction and we were accommodated at their sister property the Belle Normandy. The same ownership has both hotels. We were treated like royalty. The rooms were large and brand new. The breakfast was excellent and the staff helped us a lot. We do not speak French and they helped a ton. we went to restaurants they recommended and had wonderful dinners. They helped us set up a tour of the Battle Fields and made sure we were comfortable at all times. No question we would go back to this same property.
Fabulous hotel and a perfect stopover to explore Normandy. The main building and guest rooms are located in old French farm-style houses that look stunning. Inside, all facilities are new and comfortable. The hotel staff is super nice and friendly. The entire territory of the hotel is like a beautiful garden with plenty of places to relax. Although I felt there is not much to do in the village where the hotel is located, it's definitely a great stopover if you have a car and travel around Normandy.
Les Andelys
Wonderful hosts & wonderful breakfast - one of the best in many years travelling in France! Fresh fruit (including figs from the garden), yoghourt, jams, cheeses, croissants, Normandy apple cake ... Lots of lovely touches in the bedroom ; great recommendation for dinner (a Lebanese restaurant nearby) & aperitifs with snacks offered beforehand. And what a fantastic position, in the heart of the old town, a stone's throw from the Seine, looking up at the chateau gaillard.
We liked the location and the fact that it was close to everything. There are good restaurants in walking distance of the hotel, on the same street even. We didn’t even really need to use the car while we were there. My wife loved staying here. She liked the room, and there is an older dog named “Gloria” that wanders the hotel that she fell in love with. We got a WW2 tour of the Normandy beaches that started and ended in town center. It was amazing!
Hotel de Quebec was exactly what I needed road tripping through Normandy and booking last minute accommodations. I was here for 2 nights and the location was perfect! There is parking but it was full so I parked at a public garage close by which was still conveniently close to the hotel and just explored, walked everywhere and took in all the sites! Will def book again if I am back in the Rouen area. Best bang for my buck! Just what my budget needed!
The Hotel Reine Mathilde has a wonderful location. We could walk to the Cathedral, Bayeux Tapestry, the Museum of the Battle of Normandy, and restaurants. The onsite restaurant was a plus. Our room and bathroom were spotlessly clean and the beds were comfortable. With one exception, the staff were kind and helpful. For example, there's no lift in the hotel, but two different staff members carried our luggage up and down the stairs.
Courseulles-sur-Mer
Sincerely recomended. The apartment is really cozy and clean. The most comfortable large bed on our trip around France! Apartment located in the center of Courseulles-sur-Mer, an authentic small town on the coast, close to shops, restaurants and the marina where you can buy fresh fish. A great place to explore the Normandy coast and relax on the beach or take a long walk on the seabed at low tide
The staff who work here are lovely and super nice. I was advised to order the Steak Tartar with tomatoes for dinner. It was fantastic I was on a long distance ( 3000 mile) motorcycle tour and ended up here because it was an hour from Cherbourg I was in love with this area. The Hotel is just beside an amazing beach. I have travelled all over, but nowhere is like Normandy
Bayeux
The location was quiet, clean, and comfortable. We rented the one bedroom, one bath efficiency apartment with kitchen and sofa bed for a week. We were able to prepare coffee and breakfast each morning and a light lunch later in the day. The place is small but was used as a home base for seeing the Normandy area and suited our needs perfectly. Was also very economical.
Our room was VERY comfortable and the hotel's location with respect to visiting the Monet Gardens at Giverny was extremely convenient, but what set Hotel Normandy apart was the fact that after booking a local restaurant for us, one of the front desk staff actually WALKED us the 6 blocks to the restaurant to insure we didn't get lost! Service above and beyond!
Bayeux
Fantastic 1 bedroom apartment with everything I needed. Location was great, a stone’s throw from the cathedral and town centre and also close to the Battle of Normandy Museum and war graves. I would stay again but unlikely to do so as I’ve done all Bayeux had to offer in my 2 nights stay. Recommend this for a visit to see Bayeux’s sights.
Hotel is in the city centre, perfectly situated for seeing all the nice places. The room wasn't too big, but the view to Palais de Justice was very beautiful. The hotel itself is in an old Normandy style building. Parking system with Parking Palais de Justice was a good addition to hotel's service and worked fine.
Good location if your are visiting Rouen by car. We were touring through Normandy and needed a good hotel near the center but not so close that overnight parking was a hassle. The Holiday Inn Express fit the bill nicely. Breakfast was good, it's an easy drive to the center of town. Recommended.
A wonderful accommodation in the heart of one of Normandy's loveliest towns - Honfleur. The hotel itself sits atop the restaurant and has nice views of the lively street below. The room had plenty of room and was well-appointed. It's located a minute walk from Honfleur's gorgeous harbor.
Nice hotel very green ,comfortable and interesting areas to sit in. Very clean. Nice spa.On the outskirts of wonderful Honfluer great view of the Pont de Normandy bridge. Roads from Hôtel lead to , Douville and Le Havre. Very good breakfast. Really lovely staff helpful and friendly. Would go again.
Rooms are standardized, clean, bright and ergonomical, well arranged, functional. The hotel is not far from sea shore. The morning breakfast at the restaurant l'étage is great in quantity and quality. This hotel is Way better hotel to sleep at than the fake 5 stars barriere le normandy
The Hotel located just right to the free shuttle bus stop to Saint Mont Michel. We drive to Normandy and we appreciate It has a lot of parking space just infront of the hotel! very friendly customer service and I am happy the hotel staff able to reserve a room on ground floor for older folks.
The staff was wonderful. We had the room with a couch and it was a big room. The location was great. The atmosphere in the lounge with the fire place and chairs was awesome. I saw a review the hotel didn’t have air conditioning. It’s Normandy! You don’t need it. I would stay here again
Bayeux
The location of the property was centrally located in Bayeux and quiet from street noise. There was parking for the unit in a courtyard and this made it easy for us to leave on time each morning for our Normandy tours. Staying in Bayeux is great for touring the Normandy battlefields.
Giverny
The room was clean and had a great shower which was perfect for first night in France. The breakfast was wonderful. Take time to walk through the garden as it is beautiful. The secured parking in the back was a nice bonus as were driving from Paris to the Normandy area.
